I know your problem, now... You're editing on a PC.
That's why a number of your pictures lack contrast, and they look "washed out".
It might not be noticeable on a PC, but it's most certainly apparent on a Mac.
If you have the resources and time, try printing out one of your pictures and see if it REALLY does look like what your monitor/LCD says it looks like. From there, you can pretty much get a feel of how you should edit your pictures ~ at least as far as production is concerned.
